About Mantena
Towards the railway of the future
From traditional maintenance during breaks in service to an extended range of services to meet new requirements and expectations. This is the way forward for Mantena.
Our history and ownership
Mantena was established on 7 December 2001 as a whollyowned subsidiary of Norges Statsbaner (NSB). Mantena Sverige AB was established as a subsidiary of Mantena AS on 18 June 2007.
As part of the Norwegian railway reform, Mantena was transferred from NSB to Togvedlikehold AS in April 2017. When Togvedlikehold was wound up in December 2017, all shares
in Mantena were transferred to the Norwegian State by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The responsibility for administering the State’s holding passed to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries from 1 January 2020.
Mantena AS is the parent company of the Mantena Group; along with the business in Norway, this comprises Mantena Sverige AB, Mantena Finland OY and Mantena Danmark A/S.
Our location
The head office moved from Karl Johans gate 2 to Jernbanetorget 1 in Oslo in December 2019.
The Group’s operations are strategically located in Oslo. The central location makes it easily accessible to customers, partners, colleagues and other professionals.
Our business
Mantena is the largest provider of maintenance services
for railway companies and train operators in Norway, based
on maintenance of railway vehicles and equipment, and components for these. Since its inception, its main activity has been maintenance of locomotives, rolling stock and motor units in breaks in service, including all phases of planning and carrying out maintenance. The Group provides services to current and future railway companies and to others involved in rolling stock and infrastructure maintenance.
Mantena has workshops for maintaining components and parts, and an extensive logistics function. It also undertakes maintenance and repairs to railway machinery, as well as necessary functions such as planning, technical development and replacement. Mantena also handles maintenance activities in Sweden through its subsidiary Mantena Sverige.
Certifications
Mantena is certified according to the following standards and requirements:

Changing times
Mantena is constantly working to adapt to an increasingly open Europe, including new markets and the changing requirements and expectations that result. This means that our main activity needs to be expanded in the years ahead and that Mantena expects to deliver a wider range of services to its customers. The focus of this work lies in providing modern maintenance services that are adapted to the needs of the different markets and the new railway sector.
The Group is currently focusing heavily on new growth by expanding its range of services. Key words here are innovation, sustainability and efficiency. More information can be found in the sections on each topic.
